"Cougar fans, it's time, Lights out!"
This morning at 9:00 the principal was giving the announcements over the intercom when all of a sudden she was cut off and all the power in the school went out. As you can imagine the kids were quite excited. It was pretty dark (I don't have a big window) so we sang a song a few times to get the kids under control and so that I could think of what would come next.
We ended up moving to the vestibule (open area where there is lots of natural light) for the morning. We had to bring pencil boxes, centers, stuff to play with at Recess (indoor recess), silent reading books, and our writing. It was a little hard to get the kids to focus and to work, but they did pretty well considering the circumstances.
Apparently all of Spanish Fork lost power. The lights were out for 2 and a half hours!!! That is a long time when you are trying to teach, especially when you are sick. Maybe it is just me but I am not quite as patient when I am sick.
Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I am extremely grateful for electricity : )
Just another day in the life of an Elementary School Teacher <3
